Tales of Propaganda

In the cinema in Foshan I encounter a pair of cashiers dressed in army gear. They wear these outfits to promote the astounding number of war films which make their way into Chinese cinema, like the one that I am currently watching, “Wolf Warrior 2.”

It is a sight I am unused to, given the modern idea of war and army in the West. But then patriotism is alive and well in China, and any country that stands in the way of Chinese unity, including India, Japan, The Philippines, will be blown off the face of the world by the impressive arsenal of Chinese nuclear weapons.
